Anyhoo, back to the erection spider. Which is a real thing, in case you were wondering.
The spider comes from Brazil and a single bit from it has been shown to have the side-effect of a four-hour long erection.
Humorous though that is, it’s also deadly without anti-venom.
One of these spiders was recently found in a shipping container in Germany, and ten firefighters were called out to deal with it.
They sealed off the entire area, donned Hazmat suits (the kind you see on TV shows about aliens) and went in to capture it.
All of this, for something no more than a couple of inches long.
Which is smaller than the effect if any of the firefighters get bitten (I couldn’t resist!).
This story’s been leading in some of the papers in the UK today, and it’s a perfect example of how to write awesome headlines that drive your readers through the content or pitch.
It’s the kinda writing that can take years to learn.
But doesn’t have to.
