My wife hates me

Somehow, at Christmas, it seems that somebody sneaks into your house and replaces the content of your fridge with chocolate.

It’s a bizarre phenomenon, but one that happens every year without fail!

And this annoys Holly (my wife).

Not because the fridge is full of chocolate.

In fact, she’s an chocoholic, so this is her idea of heaven.

But she cannot understand my behaviour. You see a box of chocolates, such as Ferrero Rocher, usually contain around 30 chocolates in it.

Holly will devour this box of chocolates in the space of a few days.

Me… that box will last a few months!

I’ll have the odd chocolate with a cup of tea in the evening. I don’t need any more. Heck, I don’t want any more, and it frustrates the hell out of her.

We all get our cravings. Chocolate, for me, is not one of them.

While everyone is gorging on chocolate at Christmas, I prefer to take a step back and watch.

Which is exactly what you should do in your business from time to time.

If you’re an entrepreneur or a solopreneur, the chances are you’re going to be doing most of the work yourself.

Fair enough. At the beginning your main resource is time, and it’s best to use that to do all the work rather than pay others to do it.

As your business grows you can get others to do the work for you.

But the thang is…

…this can be very difficult if you don’t take a step back and look at your business from a birds eye view to see what’s actually going on.

When you’re involved in it at the ground level, it becomes hard to see the bigger picture.

The only problem is, it’s almost impossible to take a step back if you’re doing all the work!

So what happens?

You need to find someone you trust to help.

I’m not talking about a friend you can trust, I mean someone who’s opinion you can 100% rely on from a business perspective.

For me, that’s my mum.

She’s the person I run my ideas by. She’s the person who enables me to have the space to be able to get that birds eye view and make decisions.

This person is very important if you’re going to be successful. In fact, they’re just as important as anything else in your business.

You must have someone to run your ideas by if you want to grow.

If you don’t have someone like that yet, put that at the top of your to-do list for 2018.

Over ‘n Out,

Michael
