I’ve Got A Favour To Ask

By Posted on 3 min read 1195 views

In a minute I’m going to tell you how I structure my day to get all my work done in just a few hours.

That’s right, I run a six-figure business in just a few hours a day. But it didn’t used to be like that. I was spending every waking hour working, and often I would only get three or four hours sleep.

It took a lot of trialling to discover a way that worked for me.

But more on that in a second.

First of all I’d like to ask you a favour…

If you enjoy reading these emails then please let others know about them. I’ve crafted a nifty little button which you can press below to share this newsletter with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. All you need to do is hit that button.

And now that you’ve hit that button, which I’m sure you’ve done because you’re still reading which means your enjoying this email ;), let me explain what happened to me…

Business was good. But I was spending about twenty hours a day, seven days a week running it. And I knew I was burning out.

The problem… I wasn’t working smart.

At the time I was in Barcelona and reckoned I had maybe a couple of months more left in me before I just collapsed. In reality it was probably more like a few weeks.

Anyhoo… I knew something was wrong, and I knew I had to fix it. Fast.

In the end it only took two things to go from there to doubling the business and working just a few hours a day.

That makes it sound easy. However the journey to get there was anything but.

What I’m about to share with you took me a lot of time to learn. It sounds simple when written down, but don’t underestimate its power.

Use it or don’t use it. It doesn’t bother me. But this is what worked for me.

First of all I implemented the 80/20 Pareto principle.

This is simply that 80% of your business comes from 20% of your work. The theory can be applied to anything. Like 80% of your revenue comes from 20% of your customers.

Anyhoo… it was the fact that out of the twenty hours I was working, four of them (twenty percent) accounted for eighty percent of my business.

I sat down, with a pencil and paper, and wrote down everything that I was doing each day. The list was insane. It took over two pages (double-sided) of A4.

No wonder I felt like shite.

Anything I was doing that didn’t directly make me revenue got crossed off. Anything that did directly make me revenue was circled.

That left me with just 12% of the jobs I’d been doing. Only 12% of the work I was doing was directly making me revenue!

Next I went through the jobs that I’d crossed off and marked any I thought were necessary for branding or the general business. That brought back in maybe another 12%.

Most of the work I was doing was completely irrelevant. I was only doing it because it “made me feel” like I was running a big business.

Heck, I don’t want to feel like that. I want to feel like I’m running a tiny business with no stress, but still make big money.

All those jobs that weren’t directly generating me revenue had to be outsourced. If they couldn’t be outsourced then they were cut.

Next, I got a routine that allowed me to work through the significantly decreased number of jobs I had to do in just a few hours.

And this routine is crucial.

But I’m gonna share that with you tomorrow.

Right now, hit the buttons below to share this newsletter with your friends. Then keep an eye on your inbox tomorrow morning for the routine that allows me to do an entire days work in just a few hours.
